Smoking remains one of the leading causes of preventable death in the U.S. This training provides an overview of current smoking and health statistics and explores how the Stages of Change model, motivational interviewing, and harm reduction can support people who smoke in improving their quality of life, whether they want to reduce or quit. The training also includes information on electronic cigarettes and vaping, and it presents staff with the most up-to-date tobacco treatment options, including Nicotine Replacement Therapies (NRTs). Attendees will leave with tools to help individuals discuss their tobacco use, build awareness, and connect with resources that align with their personal goals for tobacco treatment.
