The “Recovery Model” is transforming mental health systems, a movement which champions this philosophy of practice and alters service approaches. This training allows attendees to view mental health through that recovery lens and explores recovery as it relates to mental health through evidence, history, case studies, and exercises. Attendees learn how to appropriately support persons as they develop clear, self-directed goals to lead them towards self-determined meaningful lives. The training emphasizes a collaborative approach, with staff serving as part of the person’s support system. In addition, through role-playing and case studies, attendees obtain strategies and skills needed to work with consumers to create effective service plans that emphasize wellness and encourage consumer self-determination. Attendees will leave the training with a better understanding on how to support persons through their personal journey toward wellness and recovery.
